Welcome to Thyon-Région |
|
The region stretches over the communes of Vex and Hérémence, its two main villages. ("Commune" is a Swiss term referring to the land surrounding, and administered by, a village or town.) The two communes in our region are, by Swiss standards, vast, running from the Rhone Valley, at 600 meters above sea level, up to the glaciers feeding the Grand Dixence Dam, and then all the way up to the summit of the icy, towering Mt Blanc du Cheilon, at 3870 meters above sea level. That's more than 3 kilometers (2 miles) higher! Needless to say, this allows for an enviable level of bio-diversity in our area: those who wish to can check out the flora, fauna and geology typical of the Mediterranean and of the Arctic Circle -- all in the same day, and all within Thyon-Région.

Visitor’s Tax |
|
| You pay your taxes because it contributes to improve your stay! |
The tax has existed for nearly a century in a lot of tourist resorts. Collected by the rental agencies, the owners and the tourist office, it is fully given to the community who used it to improve your welcome : working of the tourist office, organization of events and activities, maintenance of public spaces, walking and hiking trails or improvement of sports and leisure facilities.
So, you benefit directly of what you pay!
According to the low of tourism of 9th February 1996, the visitor’s tax is obligatory for any host (owner, guest, tenant) who spends a night in the resort. The owner is responsible for its collection and payment to the collection agency.

| Four regions, each one as attractive as the next, make up the Thyon-Region resort, which starts at a base elevation of 1300 meters. The highest village, Tyon is perched at 2100 meters, high above the Val d'Hérens. |
